History
In
1984, Aristides and Kathy Spiliotopoulos had the crazy idea to start up a wine
importing and distribution company specializing in Greek wines. Our first
office-warehouse was a tiny space in Linden, NJ, from which Aristides ventured
out to liquor stores and restaurants, armed with a few unknown wines from Patras
and Nemea. In 1985, we expanded distribution into NY, and realized that we
needed a serious brand in order to stay in business. Our motto at that
time was “Where else can you have so much fun for so little money!” In
1986, we convinced the Kourtakis Winery to allow us to distribute their very
popular and value priced wines in the two states. With a little success under
our belts, we ventured out to expand distribution to other states, and the rest,
as they say, is history! Today,
Nestor Imports, Inc. is the leading USA importer of Greek wines and spirits,
with a nationwide network of nearly fifty distributors coast to coast. We
have United States federal permits to import and distribute all types of
alcoholic beverages across the country, and have liquor licenses to directly
distribute these products in New York State, and to sell wine and liquor to our
distributors in the many states we cover. We are exclusive US agent for Kourtakis
winery, one of Greece’s largest, and often dubbed “the Gallo of Greece."
We are primary USA agent for Domaine
Costa Lazaridi, Greece’s top winery as proclaimed and awarded in
international competitions. Nestor Imports is exclusive agent for
Greece’s most popular ouzo, Ouzo Plomari
by Issidoros Arvanitis, and for
Haraki Cretan Tsikoudia, a favorite Greek grappa. We also are sole representative
for high quality boutique wineries including the
Chrisohoou winery in
Naoussa, the Oenoforos winery in Egion
near Patras, and Dimitra Wines
in Kalamata, Messinia, as well as
Nama Byzantino, a favorite wine among the Greek Orthodox Clergy, and a comprehensive array of
the finest
wines
